A passion for fashion

With her enthusiasm for fashion to express her creativity and to build confidence, senior Rachel Schewe has gained a reputation for being Souderton’s best dressed senior, landing her the Best Dressed award for this year’s senior superlatives.

According to Schewe, fashion means more than just compiling articles of clothing.
“I think it’s not really about being the best dressed for me, but it’s about wearing clothes that make me feel good, make me feel confident,” Schewe said.
Schewe enjoys and often prioritizes dressing “nice” for school.
“When I have a cute outfit on, I pay more attention in class,” Schewe said, “and maybe that’s a little silly, but I think it helps me during my day.”
Schewe characterizes her style as “boho” and is drawn to clothes that make her feel “happy and energetic” through their vibrant coloring and unique designs, such as her red cowboy boots.
“I have a lot of statement pieces; I love fun colors and patterns and prints,” Schewe said. “I like having unique clothing that is kind of memorable and that lasts for a long time.”
In her free time, Schewe also reworks and sews clothing, as well as embroiders anything from jean jackets to her school backpack.
“I just think that [embroidery is] a way to make items that aren’t really special, special again; make them new and sustainable,” Schewe said. “I think [embroidery is] a great way to really personalize your clothing.”
Schewe plans on attending Arizona State University in the fall where she will double major in fashion and marketing to further pursue her “passion.”
“I am interested in the design aspect but also the business end of [fashion],” Schewe said. “So I’m interested to see where that takes me in college and kind of using it to pursue that passion.”
