Senior has art in her heart
Designing various school event posters, merchandise and digital media, senior Anjolie Ware has made a name for herself as Souderton’s Most Artistic senior. Ware will be attending Savannah School of Art and Design next year.
Winning the senior superlative award for Most Artistic, senior Anjolie Ware plans to embrace this award by pursuing graphic design in college and her future career.
According to Ware, her “thing” is art.
“I feel like everyone has their thing, mine is art,” Ware said. “That’s my thing, part of my personality identity sort of. It’s cool that other people perceive me that way, the way that I perceive myself.”
Ware believes she won this senior superlative as many students know her for the designs she produces for school.
“I’m not necessarily too involved with the art classes, as much as I want to be, but I feel like around the school I’m involved,” Ware said.
Some of Ware’s work includes the SouderTHON and Art and Soul Fest t-shirts, school merchandise and many different posters to promote various events.
According to Ware, she began taking art more seriously in seventh grade, but she solidified her career path through opportunities to design for different high school clubs.
“My cousin went to SCAD and she’s just been a part of the art world, so I was kind of around it growing up. Then I got to high school and I started getting opportunities to do things for clubs. That’s when I was like oh, I really want to do this as a job,” Ware said.
Ware believes that many people “give up [on art] because they think it’s a talent thing” and encourages everyone to keep trying.
“I feel like people just give up too quickly on themselves and art is an acquired skill and not necessarily just talent,” Ware said. “I didn’t really have any exposure to art growing up besides just myself, but I feel like it’s a fun thing for people to try.”
Ware plans to major in graphic design and minor in fashion marketing and management, which hopefully lead to a job in the fashion industry.
“Ideally, I want to work in fashion and maybe be a part of campaigning, editorials and the promotional side of fashion,” Ware said.
As her career progresses, Ware hopes to become her own boss as a graphic designer and create branding projects for clients.
