Paying close attention to the team’s movement during the offseason and spring training ensures baseball fans look forward to the new season. The 2026 MLB season began on Mach 25.
There are many reasons why baseball fans get excited for the new season, whether it’s hopes for the team to make it to the playoffs or just happiness to watch their team play.
For freshman Charlie Pisoni, it’s the positive environment he gets to be in.
“The atmosphere always got me and how the players always connected. If you ever went to the game, it’s electric there,” Pisoni said.
Some people look forward to the regular season, for some it’s getting the chance to watch the players competing against each other.
“Seeing the stars like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani battle it for batting average and home runs,” junior Matthew Kearns said. “I like to predict who’s gonna win it all at the end and just seeing all the progress they make throughout 162 games.”
Baseball can be a form of entertainment for some and that’s why they look forward to the regular season.
This is true for junior Danny Shapella.
“I just think it’s really fun to have something to look forward to basically every day and to be able to watch them play. It’s just extra entertainment for me,” Shapella said.
People also love the community and environment that comes with the regular season.
According to junior Brayden Muller, it’s easy to bond with others especially over a team that’s doing well.
“It’s fun to bond over something with someone, when the team’s good. It’s really easy to bond over, start conversations, talk to people, and you just are excited because that’s what you’ve always rooted for,” Muller said.
The offseason helps to drum up hype for the regular season as well.
Whether it’s the new management or player trades it all accomplishes the same thing.
“I think we are pretty promising. I like how [The Phillies] went out and got [Adolis] Garcia and I think we should be good this year, but I think we just need another hitter,” Muller said.
