Bringing Netflix shows and movies to life, Netflix House in King of Prussia Mall opened last November with small attractions based on shows like “Stranger Things,” sparking the interest of fans.
According to Netflix House manager Nick Freeman, Netflix House is “a real-life extension” of what Netflix is.
“The idea is to bring the Netflix experience to life. Whether that be shows like ‘Wednesday’ or ‘Stranger Things,’ the goal is for the show to feel real,” said Freeman.
According to netflix.com, with a ticket purchase, visitors can enjoy a 60-minute “immersive” experience of Netflix shows.
The experiences start at $39, and include sets from some of the shows.
According to Freeman, they also offer “Netflix Bites,” which is a restaurant catering to fans of their shows.
“Each menu option is based on foods that appear in the shows,” Freeman said. “For example, we have ‘Scoops Ahoy’ ice cream from ‘Stranger Things.’”
Some visitors visitors enjoy the variety of exhibits throughout the building.
“I really liked the display areas where people could take pictures,” junior Jesse Koffel said. “I’m interested to see if they change them out; they were my favorite part.”
A number of visitors note that there is something for everyone and that there is no intended audience.
“They have stuff for adults and kids,” said visitor David Isasi. “The ‘Squid Game’ memorabilia is for older audiences, while the mini golf could be good for families.”
According to Freeman, the Netflix House is built to constantly change
“The idea is that it is going to grow and evolve, and the exhibits will change,” Freeman said. “With another opening up in Dallas, we’ll be swapping exhibits back and forth with each other.”
Netflix House also features a movie theater, showing Netflix-licensed movies that are not shown in theaters elsewhere.
“I’ve been to the theaters twice now, and it’s a cool experience. I saw the ‘Stranger Things’ finale here, and it definitely heightened the experience from just watching it at home,” customer Laura Mackey said.
For another activity, Netflix House also offers a virtual mini golf starting at $15.
“Top 9 mini golf is not a physical course, so you hit the ball, and then it appears on a screen. We did the ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Stranger Things’ holes,” said Mackey.
According to Freeman, Netflix House also hosts events, such as football games.
“We were showing some football games here on Christmas Day,” said Freeman.
“There were also some people from WWE who came in and had a little bartending event.”
However, visitors like junior Stephen Sullivan do not believe that it would be worth coming out just for the Netflix House.
“It’s definitely worth stopping [at] if you’re already at the mall, but not worth driving all the way out there if you’re just going [to the Netflix House],” said Sullivan. “I don’t think there’s quite enough for that.”
Actors and other celebrities from Netflix also visit the Netflix House from time to time.
“We at least had one person from ‘Stranger Things’ who was in here: Cara Buono, who plays Karen Wheeler on the show,” said Freeman.
The Netflix House is open every day of the week with hours varying by the day.
Netflix House opens sparking interest among fans
To help fans experience their favorite shows, the Netflix House in King of Prussia Mall was unveiled this past November. The 100,000 square feet of space is filled with attractions based on shows like “Wednesday.”
Entranced…Browsing through the book “Inside Bridgerton,” during the holiday season, visitor Kathy Miller walks through the Netflix House gift shop after playing mini golf. According to Miller, she enjoyed the gift shop and hopes “to come back next week.”
