Eyes on the prize…Focusing on the food rather than her date, senior Julia Vizza enjoys a gluten-free waffle topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. Vizza indulged in this sweet meal at the Energy Station in Harleysville.

Trying a wide variety of date spots can help find favorites, but with lots of turnovers in the local restaurant industry post-COVID-19, it can be expensive to use trial and error for date spots.
Northbound and Caruso’s highlight Souderton borough’s restaurant scene.
Northbound features a contemporary menu, including the best-loaded fries in the area. Northbound’s Sexy Fries are a favorite–originating from their sister restaurant, The Butcher and Barkeep.
The ambiance at Northbound is cozy and bright, making it the perfect spot for a romantic date. They take reservations, which are highly recommended if you are looking to get in for Valentine’s Day.
Prices range from dish to dish, but Northbound is completely feasible on a budget. Anything with their pulled pork is an absolute must-try. Their salmon plate with risotto is also outstanding.
Caruso’s tends to be a bit pricier, but the Italian cuisine is impressive. The star of the show is the gnocchi in pink sauce.
The classic Italian menu is authentic and owned by a Naples native. The quality of the food reflects the passion and expertise of the chef. Their pizzas are the best value–notably delicious and great for a slimmer budget.
The dining room is a trattoria, which is a rustic “family-style environment.” They also take reservations.
Skippack is great for a range of budgets for date nights, the two best being Tokyo and Parc Bistro.
Tokyo is a Japanese cuisine restaurant that has a sushi bar, a fabulous ramen selection and other dishes. The location is tucked onto a hill, overlooking a koi pond.
Much pricier, but worthwhile for the quality, is Parc Bistro. Parc Bistro’s steaks are a highlight of their menu–but run up the bill.
The atmosphere is chic, quiet and fancy. Dressing up is definitely favored for eating in.
Their desserts are delicious, especially the creme brulee. Parc Bistro is the perfect spot for an extra special occasion.
In Harleysville, Bella Fiona captures the heart – and stomach – of anyone who eats there. Their portions are large; there’s almost always enough to take home leftovers. The penne al a rosa is delicious, one of the best pink sauces in the area. What sets this dish apart from other restaurants is the inclusion of fresh mozzarella balls and shredded parmesan.
The weekly fish specials are reliably delicious as well. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively. Their desserts are phenomenal. The peanut butter bomb stands out as their best. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
If dessert is the mission, Merrymead’s ice cream selection never disappoints. Their homemade ice cream is creamy and delicious.
Doing a smaller ice cream date is perfect for a tight budget while maintaining quality.
Located in Lansdale, it might be a long drive for Souderton students, but stopping at Fischer’s park for a sunset walk afterward is the perfect way to break up the ride.
Other great spots for dessert include The Energy Station for ice cream, sundaes and milkshakes. Their waffles and ice cream are a highlight
Morning dates for coffee at Broad Street Grind in Souderton or Hennings in Harleysville are other great options, especially on a slim budget.
The bowls at Henning’s cafe are a gem of their menu, especially their green bowls. Their donuts are also delicious.
