Thumbs Up

Thumbs up to free meals provided by the district:
In order to bring aid to lower income households in the district, it is offering free and reduced meals to students under the age of 18. In times like these, this could be a lifesaver for many families.
After the widespread shutdown in the spring, many families have been financially affected by the coronavirus. Depending on individual circumstances, families can apply for free meals or milk or get the cost of their school breakfast and lunch reduced to $0.30 and $0.40 respectively.
The application process is readily available and the financial status of students remains confidential. More information can be found at: https://bit.ly/SAHSfreereducedmeals.
Thumbs up to COVID-19 vaccine progress:
As the world continues to combat COVID-19, many pharmaceutical companies are making strides towards producing a vaccine for the virus. This is fantastic news.
As of November 24, there are five companies who are currently in the process of conducting or planning to conduct large-scale clinical trials for their vaccines. These companies include Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Moderna and Novavax.
This could mean that next year, we could be back to coming to school without restrictions, have school dances, even go to Friday night games to cheer on our sports teams. We just need to hang on a bit longer; there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thumbs up to small business perseverance:
Despite the current pandemic, many small businesses in the Souderton community are choosing to open for business. It’s time to show them some love.
The Broad Theater has decided to reopen and Brazzo’s has been bought by new owners who are rebranding it as Bella Fiona Ristorante. If you need a few ideas of new restaurants you can give a try, check out Arrowhead Business Manager and Co-Editor-In-Chief Julia and Lydia Vizza’s article, “New restaurants open their doors in spite of COVID-19 challenges,” for inspiration.
It’s heartwarming to see our community continue to flourish and grow through these trying times. If possible, take some time to check out some of the new small businesses near you and show them your support.
