In order for kids to have fun in the community, the Indian Valley Public Library (IVPL), Indian Valley Boys and Girls Club (IVBGC) and Telford Borough are planning their annual spring and summer events such as the Lunch and Bunch and Telford Night Market.
IVPL’s Lunch Bunch, which is a once-a-week program kids to eat their lunches and read stories.
“It’s out in the pavilion so kids can eat their lunch and do stories,” librarian Nicole Husbands said.
This summer, the IVPL is going to be running more programs for all age groups, hoping that more teenagers will engage in summer activities.
“[We will have] a lot more all-ages events, so then we can try to wrap in little kids for just fun, but also some middle schoolers and teens,” Husbands said.
As well as the library having a lot of indoor activities, they are trying to “get out there,” Husbands said.
The Telford Borough is also offering more outside activities and opportunities for kids’ activities with the new location of their weekly Telford Night Market starting on May 27, at 125 South Hamlin St., Telford, Pa.
“Come play ball or just hang out and bring a towel, throw it down, listen to the band,” Telford Borough member Lauren Geitz said.
Along with the playground and new location, Telford Borough Council President Meredith Torress calls it a “safe space.”
It will provide more activities for children and older kids to do in the warmer weather.
These include the playground, open field, vendors and crafts available for people of the community to come out and participate in.
“They will be able to come to get food, to shop, to relax, to sit in the park [and] have their kids play,” Torres said.
IVBGC is also planning times to go outside for the warmer weather with clubs and summer camps.
“During the summer, we play outside all day, [and] we utilize the park,” Director Tammy Bendler said.
