For Class of ‘24, senior prom offers night to remember

Celebrating a class milestone on May 18, seniors enjoyed an evening of friendship and dancing at their prom, held at the Fuge in Warminster, Pa.
Senior prom is a yearly event that student government plans to give the seniors a chance to spend time with their friends before marking the beginning of their adulthood and parting ways with the people they spent their past four years with.
“I think that [seniors] are getting sentimental about moving on in life, and it’s one last formal event to come together and be with their friends,” Student Government advisor Tara Weismantel said.
Prom took a few months of planning and student government members spent most of their Block 2.5 advisory helping with the whole process and figuring out the best way to execute this event.
“It’s a long process,” Weismantel said.
Planning gives students a way to strengthen their leadership skills by making decisions on what would make prom run more smoothly.
“We work collectively as a group and everything takes leadership roles in different areas,” Weismantel said.
Helping also gives students a chance to help out with things like centerpieces, music and the color theme.
“I also like having a say in an event that I care a lot about,” Student Government member Sahana George said.
For student government member Lauren Fisher, it’s more of a bittersweet experience planning the event because it’s their last ever dance they get to plan.
“Just working together with all of the seniors and student government was really fun because it’s our last dance that we were putting together,” Fisher said.
Senior Abraham Bleazard said, compared to other dances, senior prom is a more special event because it’s the only dance that’s not held at the school.
“The best part about senior prom was the location. It was absolutely amazing and the use of cool lights made it a stunning place to be around,” Bleazard said.
For senior Lyla Jaggers, she believes it was a good way to end senior year and she is glad that she attended the event because she had a fun time. “I think it was a good way to commemorate high school,” Jaggers said.
