With summer quickly approaching it is time to start planning a well-deserved vacation to get away from the daily stressors of normal life.
You may look into trips abroad to visit different countries in Europe or Asia, or a cruise may be calling your name.
However, the hidden gem of vacations may be easily accessible as you explore the option within the United States.
The United States is a very large country coming in at number four on the “largest countries in the world” list.
It is home to 50 states that range from different environments and climates such as tropical and arctic. According to globehunters.us, “The total area of the U.K. is just over 93,600 square miles, about 40 times smaller than the U.S., and there are 11 states which could fit the U.K. inside them.”
This goes to show just how much more land there is to explore in our home country itself.
Another popular travel spot, the Mediterranean Sea region, “is 0.25 times as big as the United States,” MapFlight.xyz said.
This all goes to show just how much traveling you are able to do domestically, without having to break out your passport.
No matter what you are looking for, the United States has something to offer.
For anyone trying to get out into nature and experience some scenic views, Colorado, Washington, Utah or Arizona may be just the place.
Colorado is surrounded by many mountains, making it an extremely scenic destination.
They make it the perfect place for anyone interested in hiking and especially skiing in the winter months.
Utah contains many national parks such as Zion, Arches and Bryce Canyon.
Another National Park in Utah, Canyonlands, includes Lake Powell which is a highly visited spot surrounded by red rock desert and large canyons.
Arizona is home to one of the largest U.S. attractions, the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long and has attractions such as the skywalk, desert view watchtower and various hiking trails. This natural beauty is a must see for all nature lovers.
If you are looking to really play the role of a tourist, the third largest state, California, is the place for you.
Los Angeles, one of the most populated in the U.S., is located in California.
This is the city of many Hollywood stars and is perfect if you are wanting to see some famous attractions such as the Hollywood sign, the Walk of Fame or the Santa Monica Pier.
California also has many beaches if you’re looking to get that tropical feel.
If you are looking for a simpler, coastal vacation, New England may be the perfect destination.
Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket in Mass., Newport, R.I. and Bar Harbor, Maine are all beach town locations that are perfect for a relaxing get away.
Whether you want to soak up the sun on the beach or venture into town for some shopping and fine dining, the New England coast is where to go.
All of these destinations go to show just how many travel opportunities there are within the U.S. alone. There is no need to deal with tiresome 13-hour travel days, the unknown of different countries and expensive plane tickets and hotels.
Traveling domestically provides an opportunity to explore what you have at your fingertips that you may have never even realized.
