Bon Appétit… Enjoying B lunch, sophomores Jenyce Andino (left) and Caden Mroz adjust to the new lunch schedule. There are now four lunches during block 3.

In order to ensure that all students could fit in the cafeteria with social distancing, the high school has gone from three to four lunch periods this year.
According to Principal Sam Varano, having four lunches has reduced the number of students in the cafeteria by over 100 people per lunch period.
With this change, administration no longer has to worry about spreading limited staff across multiple locations.
“The three lunches in three different spots were not working out last year,” Varano said.
Some students have found it slightly difficult to adjust to the new lunch schedule.
“I enjoyed C lunch, but I found it harder to adjust [to the schedule change] because A lunch is so much earlier in the day,” freshman Sophia Gabruon said.
Varano believes that changing to a four-lunch schedule will be helpful for staff due to the lower numbers of students in each lunch.
“Since the COVID situation, it is harder for us as a staff to have three lunches because of how many students would be in each lunch,” Varano said.
Varano foresees the change lasting through the end of the year. “We will most likely be staying at four lunches for the rest of the school year,” Varano said.
