The experimental section of the SAT is an added, unexpected section at the end of the multiple choice sections. Students do not know if they will receive the experimental section, or what the section’s material will be on out of reading, writing, no calculator math, and calculator math. Although “experimental,” the College Board has been ambiguous in how the section is graded or used. In the fine print, any material throughout the test may be subject to grading.
