By preserving 1940’s charm and embracing modern technology, Becky’s Drive-In in Walnutport, PA, has remained a family-run destination for outdoor movies and community events since 1946.
Becky’s Drive-In has been a popular spot for moviegoers since it first opened in 1946. Started by William D. “Becky” Beck, the drive-in has stayed in the family and is still run by his relatives today.
With two big screens, a snack bar and special events, it is a place where families and friends come together to enjoy movies under the stars.
Over the years, Becky’s has gotten attention from national media and helped raise money for local causes, like Dream Come True of the Lehigh Valley. It continues to be a fun tradition for many.
According to Cindy Deppe, co-owner and daughter of William D. Beck, the drive-in has been a hit over the years, especially for kids.
“We play animated PG movies,”Deppe said. “I enjoy seeing the families and kids have fun.”
The kids’ movies have proved to be very popular.
“The PG movies sell better than the R movies,” Deppe said.
Becky’s also offers a variety of foods for their snack stand, with items ranging from popcorn to burgers.
“We have a lot of hot foods,” Deppe said. “We have fries, burgers, and my husband makes the chili cheese and pulled pork.”
Additionally, Becky’s Drive-In also holds other events throughout the year.
“We had an egg hunt this year and it was really well attended,” Deppe said. “On June 14 we are having fireworks.”
Becky’s also holds a car show every year to raise money for Dream Come True. They have raised a great amount of money since the 80’s.
The Drive-In holds a lot of memories for Deppe, as she has worked at the drive-in since a teenager and has received help from family members over the years.
