To return to school refreshed, both students and staff have explored different hobbies and activities over spring break that will help them to utilize the free time they will now have.
According to Fishing Club advisor John Dubyk, spring is a time he can spend with his friends fishing.
“Trout season starts very soon, so I will have a lot of time to go out and fish,” Dubyk said. “Typically, my best friend and I go up to Potter County and do a big fishing trip early on in the break.”
Dubyk also said that he likes to take advantage of the free time and nice weather that comes with the changing of seasons.
“I do a lot of yard work over the break now that the weather is starting to get nice outside and I will have the free time,” Dubyk said.
Freshman Layla Elgoueli likes to go down to the beach for spring break.
“My friends and I are all going to go to my friend’s beach house down in Wildwood,” Elgoueli said. “We plan on taking long walks on the beach and getting up early so we can take lots of pictures of the sunrise.”
Elgoueli said that her friend group also plans on making this trip more than a one time thing.
“This is the first year we all decided to do this, but we are hoping that it will become a tradition because it will be a really cool experience and we will have lots of photos of us all together,” Elgoueli said.
Additionally, choir teacher Ryan Carlin intends on spending a lot of time with his daughter during the time he is away from school.
“I know that my daughter and I are planning on going to the Camden Aquarium during spring break and maybe the Please Touch Museum down in Philly,” Carlin said. “I am looking forward to it.”
Carlin said that he is very happy that he is now able to do a lot more activities with his daughter as she grows.
“It’s fun to be able to do a lot more trips and adventures with her now that she’s able to walk,” Carlin said.
When speaking about her plans over spring break, sophomore Leah Callahan said that she plans on recovering from sleep deprivation so she will be prepared for school once spring break is over.
“Over the break I really want to catch up on sleep so I will be ready to come back to school,” Callahan said.
To add on, Callahan also said that she will be hanging out with her friends over her Spring break.
“I plan to hang out with ny friends and maybe have a sleepover,” Callahan said.
In addition, Callahan also plans on continuing an Easter tradition at her grandparents’ house.
“Every year, we go to my grandparents’ house for breakfast on Easter,” Callahan said. “I really enjoy it.”
When he is on spring break, freshman Peter McMahon said he will be exploring The University of Pittsburgh with his family over spring break.
“My whole family and I are going to the University of Pittsburgh to see if my brother will like the campus,” McMahon said. “I am pretty excited, and I think it will be a very fun trip for us all.”
