NBA all-stars aren’t normally traded at the deadline, but this deadline saw NBA stars such as Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, Brandon Ingram and De’Aaron Fox finding new homes across the league.
The Lakers started off the NBA trade deadline with a world-breaking bang, as they traded 31-year-old power forward Anthony Davis for the 25-year-old shooting guard Luka Doncic. Doncic, who is already a perennial MVP finalist and five times
All NBA and five-time all-star superstar for an aging, injury-prone, 10-time NBA all-star and four-time all-NBA superstar, Anthony Davis.
Doncic is coming off leading a 50-32 fifth seed Dallas Mavericks with fellow superstar Kyrie Irving, to the NBA finals losing to the Boston Celtics.
Davis alongside Lebron James brought the Los Angeles Lakers to a second consecutive playoff appearance, where they lost to the Denver Nuggets in five games, in the NBA playoffs.
The San Antonio Spurs began the season with the acquisition of Chris Paul to pair with the upcoming world renowned Victor Wembanyama, but by the deadline, they couldn’t help but acquire young NBA all- star De’Aaron Fox.
Fox, who is a one-time all-NBA third team point guard, joins Paul and Webanyama is an increasingly building Spurs team.
Spurs stars lead fellow up and coming rookie Stephon Castle to a disappointing 23-29 record by the all-star break.
Alongside Fox Chicago Bulls forward Zach Levine to the Kings.
The Kings would lose Fox and acquire Levine during the trade deadline, which still has Kings fans hope that the Kings can at least try to compete.
The Kings’ plans are working early on as the Kings are 2-1 since the all-star break. Levine will rejoin former Bulls Star DeMar DeRozan.
DeRozan was traded to the Kings before the ‘24-’25 NBA season began.
Levine will be looking to be the difference maker in a so far disappointing season in the eyes of Kings fans.
In a very unexpected deal, Pelicans send forward Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olinik and multiple draft picks.
To not have to pay an aging Brandon Ingram, and to save for the incoming rebuild the Pelicans are facing, Toronto, which is slightly further along the realm of playoff contention, looks to pair Ingram as a mentor to rising star Scottie Barnes.
Ingram, who was in the last year of his contract with the Pelicans, quickly signed a new contract worth $120 million over three years. Ingram and Barnes look to bring the Raptors playoff hopes for the first time in 2 years.
The Raptors traded longtime center Pascal Siakam last deadline to the Indiana Pacers. In his second year as the franchise player, Barnes gained an elite second option in Ingram.
