Stores designed to sell elegant dresses are beginning their prom season.
Stores such as All Things Prom and Country Bride Prom, have started their sessions in which girls can come in and try on various dresses with the help of employees.
According to Country Bride employee Isiyah McFadden, she believes that it’s important to know certain aspects of dresses before trying on prom dresses.
“You should know your size and the styles you like and don’t like,” McFadden said.
Additionally, there are some steps to take to make sure that you truly love the dress.
“Trust your gut and go with your own opinion,” McFadden said. “As much as it’s good to have influence and recommendations, this is all about you. Nobody else is wearing the dress for you so get it how you want, the way you want.”
McFadden offers some thoughts as to where you should begin looking to find your prom dress.
“I would recommend going to a store that has the best prices for you, a good environment where you feel comfortable and not overwhelmed to be open to trying new things and to not care about being judged by others,” McFadden said. “Be yourself and be happy with whatever you wear because it’s the girl that makes the dress not the other way around.”
Senior Kaylee Broyles had a chance to be involved with one of these sessions, finding her perfect prom dress due to the tips offered to her.
“I knew that it was the one for me as soon as I put it on,” Broyles said. “However, knowing to just trust my gut and going in with prior ideas of what I wanted helped the overall experience,”
Broyles enjoys the “atmosphere” that prom dress shopping brings.
“Everyone is just complimenting each other and trying to help you find a good dress,” Broyles said. “It’s just a really nice group of girls.”
Senior Ashley Villante has also found her dress, and enjoys the process of trying on dresses.
