By taking advantage of going on vacation during the holidays, students are able to relax without the pressure of missing schoolwork.
Holiday breaks usually last about nine days, in the case of Thanksgiving and spring break, while winter break often has around 11 days of no school.
The benefits of traveling during the holidays are too valuable to disregard.
The days allotted to students for the holidays allow for week-long vacations without overlapping with school days, making make-up work obsolete.
During the holiday breaks, students have unstructured time where they are not doing much or just sitting around playing video games since it is cold outside.
Going on vacation can be an experience that lights up the rather bland days that are in a holiday break.
One advantage of traveling during holidays is that it limits the time that the students are out of school.
When a student misses more than 10% of total school days that student is declared to be chronically absent.
According to Attendance Works, “Chronic absence—missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.”
Missing days because of vacation can lead to chronic absenteeism, which can make it difficult for students to advance throughout their education.
If a student were to miss five days on a trip, that absence, combined with other absences like doctor’s appointments or illnesses, could push a student over the limit.
Often students use the time given for holiday breaks to sleep, relax, and have a gap between school or the next unit of a particular class.
Traveling during the holidays presents students with the ability to relax while also allowing them to unwind and visit new places all around the world carefree.
One might fear that they cannot celebrate some of their favorite holidays, after all only a few countries celebrate certain holidays, right?
Oftentimes, places and resorts host mock celebrations for holidays and almost every country celebrates Christmas.
According to World Population Review, “There are a total of 195 countries in the world that celebrate Christmas.”
Furthermore, a vacationer might even be able to experience the holidays abroad and find the many different ways that other countries celebrate Christmas.
Some countries celebrate Christmas like in the U.S., but other countries celebrate it with different interpretations.
Traveling during the holidays is a better option than not by a vast degree.
Traveling provides vacationers a work-free vacation, new experiences with holidays and an easy opportunity without missing school.
Traveling for the holidays saves vacationers time
Traveling during the holidays helps vacationers because it limits time spent away from the regular school week and allows vacationers to enjoy a vacation with no make-up work.
