With a wide variety of options and an enormous quantity of food, Shady Maple is a spectacular choice for holiday dining and large groups.
Shady Maple, located in East Earl, Pa., is a self-advertised smorgasbord of different foods. They hold three different time slots over the course of a day, one for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Each of these time slots have different foods associated with them, some of which are available everyday and some of which are specials.
We decided to attend the breakfast session, and were thoroughly pleased with the decision. The breakfast buffet lasted from 7-10 a.m, and cost about $16.50.
Considering the amount of food that was available, the price was very reasonable. Shady Maple is all you can eat, and the only limiting factor is the time.
The breakfast portion of the day included over 15 tables of breakfast items, sides and toppings.
All of the classic breakfast items were included, like eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and waffles, but they also offered more unique items like scrapple, potato cakes, spicy sausage and baked hash browns.
The breakfast session also offered a breakfast special, which happened to be designer pancakes. The designer pancakes were made fresh in front of the customer, and baked in the ingredients that were requested.
After the baking was completed, customers filed past a countertop covered in potential toppings from whipped cream and syrup, to strawberries and oranges.
We decided to fill our plates with the classic breakfast items like eggs, bacon and sausage, and also tried some fruit and a whoopie pie.
The fruit was fresh and delicious, and the whoopie pie was clearly homemade, which made it taste even better. The eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes were fairly good, enough to go back for seconds.
The “name of the game” at Shady Maple is definitely quantity over quality, but it actually pays off in this case.
The food is still quite good, and the feel of the buffet makes for a very cheerful atmosphere, almost akin to a holiday dinner.
The buffet has all the essential sides and toppings for your endless breakfast.
From warm syrup, whipped cream, berries for waffles, gravy for biscuits and even fresh grits, it would be almost impossible to find something you couldn’t enjoy.
While the food at Shady Maple is the main attraction, the workers make you feel at home and quite peaceful.
When we went, they were always smiling and engaging with the customers.
Whether it be by making jokes with customers or having normal conversations, the employees at Shady Maple make you feel welcomed.
