In order to truly adjust to the current fall weather, as well as the upcoming holiday season, Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Pa. is an immersive experience for all types of individuals.
Peddler’s Village is a small shopping center located in suburban Philadelphia, consisting of 65 shops, as well as an inn.
The shops range from bookstores to clothing boutiques- not to mention a jerky store that has camel and python jerky.
At Peddler’s Village, just about anyone can find something that they can enjoy.
One of the biggest highlights of Peddler’s Village is its immersive seasonal and holiday displays.
Throughout the months of September and October, the shopping center holds a local scarecrow contest, where they display homemade scarecrows throughout the village.
Once the final verdicts are made, the scarecrows are pinned with their place-holding ribbons so visitors can see the rankings of each one.
Another fall festivity that takes place at Peddler’s Village is their annual Trick-or-Treat in the Village.
In the spirit of Halloween, the village shops will pass out candy to customers and wandering families.
Of course, costumes are highly encouraged, ultimately creating the true Halloween experience for those who attend.
Throughout every season at Peddler’s Village, various events are held, vendors come and go, and live music can be heard throughout the year.
So it stands, there is always something to do in the village, regardless of the time of year.
But arguably the best time of year at Peddler’s Village is the months leading up to the favorite winter holidays.
Aside from the festive decorations- wreaths, lights, menorahs in window sills- the true holiday spirit is embodied in the annual Gingerbread Competition and Display.
Each year, locals will spend dedicated time creating gingerbread houses to submit to the competition.
The houses are then voted on and finally displayed throughout the month of December.
This year, the categories consist of Holly Jolly, Professional, Traditional and various other topics, according to the Peddler’s Village website.
Different age groups also have specific contests that they can participate in.
One aspect of the competition is that there is no one winner. While most of the houses are displayed without labels, many of them have rankings.
Aside from the display, Peddler’s Village turns into a true winter wonderland during the holiday season.
The various shops are covered with arranged light displays and decorations, carolers wander throughout the village on certain weekends and, of course, Santa comes to hear every child’s Christmas wish.
While the seasonal festivities create a whole new atmosphere within the village, Peddler’s Village is always an enjoyable experience during any time of the year.
Their ample selection of shops carry quite the array of trinkets and their restaurants serve high quality food (with high quality service) all year round.
Spending a night at Peddler’s Village is enough to put anyone in a festive mood for the upcoming holidays.
Taking a few friends and family or just going by yourself, offers an experience that will prove to be worthwhile.
The magic of Peddler’s Village is a feeling that everyone should encounter at least once, for it shows that the little things can truly bring one happiness in any season of life.
