By cooking authentic ethnic dishes, Three Brothers Mexican Grill and Chinatown Chinese Restaurant share their unique foods, dishes and cultures to the surrounding area.
These restaurants both bring culture to their neighborhoods by sharing ethnic foods and giving the local community a taste of both their cultures.
According to Three Brothers Mexican Grill cashier Natalie Avaria, she feels that they have “opened a new perspective of Mexican food.”
“Whenever I went to Mexican restaurants, they didn’t have as much as Three Brothers had to offer,” Avaria said. “Customers enjoy it and have said in the past our restaurant has a lot more options.”
According to Three Brothers Mexican Grill busser Hannah Gat, they have a “wide variety of foods” compared to other businesses nearby.
“The menu has to offer a lot of different Mexican and cultural foods,” Gat said. “We even have agua frescas which are fresh juices that are very popular. A lot of customers like our drinks like horchata, because not all businesses have them.”
According to Three Brothers Mexican Grill server Sonia Dharmani, their restaurant has brought “cultural representation to Harleysville.”
“I would say one of our best selling items would be our quesabirria tacos,” Dharmani said. “Customers love the consomé with their tacos.”
Dharmani feels that the wide range of foods that they serve brings in lots of business.
“I have been working here for over a year, and the customers keep coming back for Taco Tuesday,” Dharmani said.
Dharmani believes that with the deals for Taco Tuesday, customers keep coming back for the specials.
According to worker Kelvin Zhang, Chinatown Chinese Restaurant, a restaurant located in Hatfield, Pa. is a unique spot because of the culture it holds and has maintained since the early 2000s.
Zhang feels that Chinatown brings cultural diversity as well as giving others the chance to experience “different options besides fast foods.”
“I work and help out there almost every day of the week,” Zhang said.
Zhang believes that Chinatown Chinese Restaurant is unique to the Souderton community.
“Compared to other restaurants, especially Chinese places in the area, something that makes our business unique would be our prices. It is a little bit lower than other competition but it is all up to the customer’s opinion,” Zhang said.
Zhang is proud of Chinatown’s egg rolls.
“I’m not trying to be biased on this, but I feel like one of the best selling foods would be our egg rolls. A lot of people order it.” Zhang said.
Even though egg rolls are one of Chinatown’s best selling items, there are many more to explore on their menu that brings cultural diversity to the surrounding area.
“During the pandemic, we definitely pushed online ordering, especially things like GrubHub so we could deliver,” Zhang said.
Zhang believes that during the pandemic, there were many challenges to face and to overcome, but customers kept coming back because they loved their food.
“I would say the competition is normal. Lots of places have closed down in recent years,” Zhang said.
Covid was a deterrent to many businesses.
