Halloween With Braces:
At a time where everyone is going out and enjoying their candy and sweet treats, those with braces have to endure a difficult time.
While teens with braces can still enjoy Hershey bars, Three Musketeers and M&M’s, they have to avoid countless other candies that most others can enjoy, such as Starbursts and Peanut M&Ms.
This largely diminishes their ability to find tasty treats to enjoy, and decreases the overall enjoyment of the holliday.
Whether a teen decides to trick or treat, go to a costume party or just enjoy a tasty treat, the restrictions on braces-wearers can lead to a less enjoyable, and less tasty, Halloween.
Hurricane Season:
Hurricane season has already had huge effects on the East Coast in 2023.
According to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, six hurricanes have struck since the beginning of June, three of which have been of category three or higher.
According to the Office for Coastal Management, 2023 hurricanes have already caused $32.7 billion in damages, second only to 2021 in this category.
These damages are the statistical representation of countless homes lost or damaged, dozens of communities wounded and thousands of people displaced due to these storms.
As hurricane season continues a steady increase in severity, coastal communities continue to search for solutions.
College Anxiety:
During September and October many college bound students find themselves stressing over their college applications.
When added on to school work, extracurriculars, work and sports, these applications can lead to several months of anxiety and overwork.
Senior Bryan Wu feels the way many of us feel as applications have been a Arather large source of stress for him.
“There are lots of deadlines to worry about on top of school,” Wu said. “It’s also a lot of essays and materials to keep track of.”
Wu said that the stress was not over once the applications were sent, either.
“There is still the stress of the unknown,” Wu said, “not knowing whether you will be accepted or not.”
